“We are made of stories.”
—Rebecca Solnit
Hey there!
Dr. Candice Wiswell (she/her) is a fiction writer, poet, and essayist whose work explores the tangled, tender spaces where memory, identity, and human connection collide. Her writing has appeared in Volition, The Order of Us Anthology, and The Minison Project, among others. She is currently at work on her debut novel, Teeth and All, an upmarket literary exploration of intergenerational trauma and found family set in Montgomery, Alabama. She is an incoming MFA Fiction candidate at George Mason University.
Candice holds a PhD in Cognitive-Behavioral Neuroscience, and she brings that deep curiosity about how minds work to both her storytelling and her professional life. As the founder of Creative Thrive Coaching, she works with neurodivergent writers, helping them build sustainable creative practices and move through the stuck places that keep good writing locked in drafts.
She lives in the Washington, D.C. metro with her family, where she is always reading too many books at once. When she's not deep in words, ideas, or talking about herself in the third person, she's probably dancing in the living room with her kiddo or trying to remember where she left her coffee.
