Candice Wiswell
Hi, I'm Candice!
A mission-driven User Experience Researcher, Writer, and Content Strategist.
By combining my doctoral training in behavioral science with industry experience, I enhance user experiences in digital products and services.

As the owner of Wiswell Creative, I help companies transform ideas into impact through data-driven content strategy and innovative design that leverages neuroscience.

I fill my downtime with family hikes, good food and coffee, catching up on the latest SciFi, reading all the things, writing poetry and fiction, and creating artisan jewelry.

About Me

Ask me where I’m from and I’ll say all over! Growing up as an Air Force "military brat," we moved every few years. I've lived across the U.S., in Europe, and even on an island. Currently, I live on the U.S. East Coast with my husband, our daughter, and two cuddly cats.

I have a Ph.D. in Psychology, with a concentration in Cognitive-Behavioral Neuroscience
(I know, it's a mouthful!) from George Mason University, an M.A. in Psychological Research from Texas State University, and a B.A. Honors in Psychology with a Philosophy minor from Northern Kentucky University.

I enjoy volunteering with organizations that contribute to psychological well-being, social good, and science and art education.

My pronouns: she/her/hers

RESEARCH PSYCHOLOGY
Learn about my career as a Research Psychologist, read my publications, and find out how studying the perception of time is the study of what makes us human.
Read about my research
Candice, a white woman, is standing in front of her research poster at a conference. She is wearing a purple blouse and black slacks.
Black and white image. Side profile of Candice's head and brain as it was being scanned by a functional magnetic resonance imaging machine.
Result from Candice's study show a significant difference between active and passive brain states as they are being recorded using electroencephalography after receiving neurostimulation.
jewelry design
Since 2008, I have been designing and making jewelry. Mostly self-taught, but have taken classes with well-known jewelry professionals at locations in Denver, Colorado and at Creative Side Jewelry Academy in Austin, Texas.

Testimonials

" I had the pleasure of working directly with Candice as a co-lead at the UXR Lab. As a lead, Candice was organized, thorough, incredibly detailed, collaborative, communicative, and kind. She was always highly prepared for team meetings and skillfully led the group in inclusive collaborative discussions about complex and vague topics, helping us to narrow and pin down the problem space, specific research scope, and effective methods. I congratulate anyone who has the future opportunity to work with Candice - I assure you will have a highly dedicated, skilled, and welcoming colleague."
